WHAT DOES AFRICAN OR DRY HAIR NEED?

Dry hair needs ATTENTION!  It needs YOUR attention.  In order for dry hair to remain on the head, it will need proper cleansing, proper conditioning, protein, moisture, moisture, moisture, and one more thing......... MOISTURE.  These are just the basics.

WASHING YOUR HAIR

I have something I found about washing  your hair that I would like to share.  A lovely natural named Kim Love made a wonderful discovery.  If you put a little conditioner on your hair after you shampoo it and prior to rinsing, you may find that it is softer and does not feel stripped.  So, what you would do is cleanse your hair like you normally would, but PRIOR to rinsing, you would squeeze out the excess shampoo suds and then apply the conditioner while detangling with your hands.(I recommend the VTN Leave In Smoothing Creme for this).  Then rinse- making sure you don't re-tangle the hair.  When you do this, you may find that your hair is easier to comb through and that it is softer.

Another thing to consider when washing your hair is not to over-do it.  Most shampoos will advise to wash twice.  This may not be necessary.  Hair only holds so much product and if you are washing regularly (weekly) and depending on the products you use, there may be no need to lather twice.  Plus you may wash away precious oil and sebum that does not need to be removed.
